TYPES OF HEARING AIDS
Our hearing aids use Digital Circuitry which includes information about a sound’s pitch or loudness. It can be specially programmed to amplify some frequencies more than others. This allows more flexibility in adjusting the aid to meet the specific need of the client and to certain listening environments. This type of aid can be programmed to focus on sounds coming from a specific direction.
RECEIVER IN THE EAR CANAL (RIC)
This type of hearing aid is small and is worn behind the ear with only a narrow tube inserted into the ear canal. This tube is connected to a dome or a custom earpiece. This allows the canal to remain open so you do not have that “plugged up” feeling. The design is barely visible when worn.
BEHIND–THE–EAR (BTE)
This style of hearing aid consists of a plastic case worn behind the ear. It is connected to a custom earmold that fits inside the outer ear. This is used in cases of more severe and profound hearing loss.
IN–THE–EAR (ITE)
This type of hearing aid has three-levels which are Full Shell, Half Shell and Completely In-The-Canal (CIC).
Full Shell - Customers with a smaller ear or who prefer a hearing aid that doesn't go over the ear.
Half-Shell - This is the same as the Full Shell, but half the size.
CIC - This hearing aid is barely seen and fits all the way into the ear canal.
